We thank the author of the Letter to the Editor, N. D. Chrystal, for taking the time
to comment on our recent publication, “Comparison of milk replacer composition and
effects on growth and health of preruminant lambs, and health-associated costs of
artificial rearing” (
McCoard et al., 2021.
). The author has raised a number of concerns regarding our study (
Chrystal, 2022.
). It appears that the author has misinterpreted the objectives of the study and thus
the experimental approach, as well as the conclusions reached. We hope that our responses
