Dr. Daniel Rivera

Daniel Rivera, associate editor, received his BS in agriculture (animal science) at New Mexico State University, his MS in agriculture (animal science) at West Texas A and M, and his PhD in ruminant nutrition from New Mexico State University. He worked as a post doc at Texas Tech University under the guidance of Michael Galyean and then in private industry for 4 years. After his time in industry, he was the extension livestock specialist at Mississippi State University for 1.5 years, after which he worked in a research-extension role at the South Mississippi Branch Experiment Station–White Sand Beef Unit for 10 years. While at Mississippi State University, he conducted research in growing stocker cattle, examining feeding haylage, feeding feed supplements in grazing cattle, and the use of growth promotants and feed additives on health and production in cattle. Most recently, Rivera moved to the University of Arkansas, Southwest Research and Extension Center at Hope, where he is the center director. Rivera will still maintain a similar research program while at Arkansas.
